As we head into summer, many of us have our thoughts naturally turned towards improving our health. Part of this is a desire to shed any unwanted and no longer needed winter weight. Another aspect is to feel healthier in order to have enough energy to enjoy a long hot summer. Whatever the reason, a good option for many people is to detoxify themselves by changing their diet. Whether you’re using a kettle or a water cooler, hot and cold spring water detoxing recipes could be a good option for you. Here are three of our favourite spring water detox drinks that should have you ready for summer in no time.
1. Coconut Water and Orange Mint:
This delicious drink is packed with minerals and electrolytes to improve the way we feel. Not only is it great for hydration, but it is also packed with vitamin C, and the Orange Mint helps with any digestion issues. Simply crack open a coconut and add some mint leaves for a great health infusion. If you cannot get a fresh coconut, you can use canned, but you may have to top it up with a good quality spring water. This drink is best served cold, so after you make it, ensure that it is chilled down for at least an hour.
2. Mango Infusion With Lime:
Nothing says Aussie summer more than a nice ripe mango. Once you try this recipe, you will want to make it repeatedly throughout the summer. Mangoes are well known to be a healthy way to correct high cholesterol, reduce the risk of cancer and lower the risk of diabetes. Some people even say that mangoes can cure poor eyesight! Adding Lime into the mix brings high levels of soluble fiber that help to regulate the absorption of sugar in our bloodstreams. You can use a semi firm mango, simply cut off the skin, chop it into chunks and place it in your glass. Then add one lime that has been cut into slices and cover everything with some fresh spring water. Leave it to infuse at a room temperature for at least four hours and then enjoy. For added taste, you can kick it up a notch by adding six fresh basil leaves.
3. Apple and Cinnamon Infusion:
This drink is enriched with Vitamins B and C, and the cinnamon helps our bodies to balance our blood sugars. Using a high quality spring water from a water dispenser, hot and cold for tea and cold drinks is very convenient. This drink also stimulates the senses with fragrant cinnamon smells reminiscent of the Christmas just past. To make it, slice up an apple, add it to your glass, add a cinnamon stick and cover with spring water. Let it infuse at a room temperature for a few hours, you can then drink it straight away or if you would prefer it cold, simply transfer it to the fridge for an additional hour.
